Why this recording appears on our home page

Jack Mayesh was an important WWII-era Sephardic recording artist. Along with Victoria Hazan, he represented the last in a line of Sephardic artists who grew up with, performed and recorded in the idiom of urban Ottoman music. In this selection, he sets the well-known Greek dance song Missirlu to Ladino lyrics.
