Biography

The Stamboul Quartette, active ca. 1925, New York City, recorded Turkish and Sephardic Hebrew songs. Personnel on the Sephardic recordings included Morris Cazes, Baritone and Isaac Angel. On Turkish recordings, Louis Matalon sang as well. The three vocalists between them also contributed 'oud and kanun accompaniment, joined by Maurice Ganon on the violin. These are the only recordings released on a major US label mastered in the US. (See an advertisement here.)
